SAP Solution Architect

The Team

The Powered Apps teams are communities of technology focussed professionals who work together to deliver KPMG Powered Enterprise though a standardised delivery model, which drives professional delivery to clients. The teams use their functional knowledge and experience (e.g., Finance, Quote to Cash, Procurement, Supply Chain), coupled with their expertise in the cloud applications (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, Coupa) to lead and deliver client programmes, support pre-sales activities and develop improvement and extensions to Powered Enterprise.

Role Purpose

The role of the SAP Solution Architect is to our customer to deliver their business strategy through technology. They are involved with the client in shaping the opportunity, support them in defining the vision and work with the platform architect to translate business requirements into detailed solutions. They have a good understanding of SAP technology roadmaps, roles of business functions and can ensure that solutions align with the relevant technology will align to the business and technology strategies; are able to influence business and technology stakeholders to adopt the right technology solutions; guide technology projects through the Technology Assurance processes and escalate risks, issues and critical dependencies to the appropriate leaders as required to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

Role Responsibilities

As part of the SAP Solution Architect role you will:

Provide leadership and advice to our clients in building their future vision enabled by technology with SAP products at its core

Enterprise and SAP Architects, Business SME technical SMEs and specific projects to analyse and translate business requirements into technical requirements, ensuring that these are feasible


  • Build conceptual and detailed solution architecture designs based on leading standard and approaches.
  • Act as a lead solution architect on opportunities and projects and be able to work with platform architects, technical architects and TOM architects
  • Be able to lead or act as subject matter expert in enterprise and application reviews or other strategic initiatives that affect the client’s business and functionals areas
  • Build and maintain strong relationships at CXO and senior stakeholder level, with the ability to influence, manage expectations and challenge where needed.
  • Manage and work alongside Enterprise Architects, Business and technical SMEs and other delivery/technical resource to analyse and translate business requirements into technical requirements, ensuring that these are feasible
  • Be able to c reate and maintain a detailed view of existing architecture in order to help manage the transition to future state architecture.
  • Have a good understanding of issues and challenges facing business functions in departments such as finance, supply chain, sales, customer etc.
  • Understand the governance and processes of an architecture practice
  • Be able to identify business/project risk and mitigate or communicate as necessary.


Experience

In order to be successful in your application for the SAP Solution Architect role you will:


  • Have a proven track record in SAP solution architecture and working with SAP products
  • Extensive experience of defining and designing SAP Solution architectures using SAP products and its application into industries /sectors
  • Ability to combine SAP products with other technologies based on best of breed for your industry and sector
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of relevant technology-specific domains, e.g. application, data, process, integration, etc. including the main technologies that interact with this domain
  • Deep understanding of SAP products and their topics such as SAP S4/HANA, SAC, BW/4HANA, MDG, Ariba, IBP etc
  • Be able to cover topics around SAP Data management and Governance, automation with SAP, usage of specific IS solution, Integration and Data Integration, SAP Technology and Security architecture.
  • A high level of general, technical knowledge incl. current, emerging and future technology market trends and their impact on business
  • Business focused, with the ability to communicate and convey messages to both technical and business stakeholders. Be able to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience in a way that is relevant, easy to consume and compelling.
  • Good knowledge of Enterprise Architecture governance incl. steps required, e.g. Info Sec approval, conceptual and solution architecture reviews, security assessments, pen tests, code reviews and service acceptance criteria
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity at the beginning of projects, with ability to provide clarity of direction despite this
  • Good knowledge of Business Architecture, incl. business and technology strategies, operating models, process models, business and technology capability models and taxonomies
  • Understanding of business and IT compliance topics such finance, GDPR and security standards
  • Experience of working and leading teams in onshore or managed through delivery centres (near or offshore)
