Department Information

KPMG’s Risk Consulting practice proactively help clients manage their regulatory risk and reduce reputational, operational, financial and other risks. We are experienced in managing diverse issues including regulatory compliance, governance and risk management frameworks, capital and liquidity requirements, corporate governance and dispute resolution.


Regulatory – leveraging a close working relationship with the PRA and FCA the Regulatory team provides clients with insight into regulatory interpretation and support in the implementation of regulatory policy and requirements. The breadth of clients we work with gives you the ability to benchmark to leading practice.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Supporting firms on their recovery planning, resolvability requirements and activities such as wind-down planning, treasury operating model and funding forecasting
  • Practically supporting firms in developing the ICAAP and ILAAP processes.
  • Providing detailed guidance on the application of prudential rules contained in the CRR, GENPRU and BIPRU sourcebooks (and other prudential sourcebooks as applicable e.g. MIPRU)
  • Managing Section 166 reviews and reporting to the PRA and FCA
  • Advising firms on managing their relationship with PRA and FCA
  • Helping firms to prepare for regulatory visits.
  • Managing client money reviews and the application of CASS
  • Assisting with applications to the Financial Services Authority for Part IV permission
  • Advising on capital planning and efficient capital structures and multi-disciplinary and due diligence projects
  • Delivery of client engagements, leading small and medium sized teams and in some instances working within larger, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Taking a leading role in the identification of business development opportunities and assisting with the preparation of client proposals
  • Mentoring and coaching of other less experienced team members
  • Support KPMG’s efforts in relation to sales and marketing, Research and Development and Knowledge Management

Qualifications and Skills


  • Understanding of financial services firms’ businesses, structures, governance frameworks and risk management
  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills and ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external network of contacts
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team of professional staff

Experience and Background

  • Relevant financial services experience with a prudential regulatory focus, either as part of a financial services firm, advisory capacity or PRA/FCA
  • Experience of retail banks and excellent technical knowledge of prudential regulatory issues (including: CRD, capital requirements, liquidity, regulatory reporting, PRA authorisations etc).
  • Understanding of regulatory developments and key current issues facing clients
  • Ability to produce and deliver high quality technical analysis, using excellent oral / written communication skills and demonstrating breadth and depth of knowledge
  • Strong team player, driven, self-starter.
  • Relevant sectorial experience – Banking, lending, consumer credit, wealth management.
  • Regulatory experience required , ideally with experience as a consultant in a major professional services firm.
  • Graduate calibre.
