Role

The Sales Director will act as the leader of the Telcom Networks overall business plan accomplishment with an emphasis placed upon driving the sales and commercial team. You will be responsible for creating, developing and executing an overall business plan to reach the fifty million pounds annual revenue target within 5 years. You will build trust and credibility at all levels within the Group and externally with clients, and thereby identify business client priorities and ultimately ensure Telcom Networks plays a key role in achieving them. You will be responsible for shaping and driving all opportunities to a successful conclusion. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President as part of the Telcom Networks leadership team, you will play a very influential role in the business and take on key responsibilities for the day-to-day sales across all products in Telcom Networks. You’ll drive the overall business plan targets and ensure effective sales team creation, management, and machine development along with all of the key systems and processes that will facilitate our growth.

The ideal candidate will also have experience in the development and management of marketing initiatives to support the sales plan. The candidate should be comfortable multitasking and dealing with a number of large-scale long term projects alongside their daily duties. The ideal candidate will have previous experience scaling a full-fibre internet service provider or a similar utility/infrastructure type business.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis and recommendations. Leading revenue forecasting by analyzing business tactics, performance analysis, pricing and sales strategies, market research and competitor analysis. Sales Director job is to then take this insight and convert them into reports that can be conveyed to stakeholders along with strategy recommendations.
  • Strategy and planning. Overseeing the execution and planning of driving revenue growth and sales strategy by using analysis to forecast sales performance, set sales targets, determining the effectiveness of current sales initiatives against key metrics and implement change if necessary.
  • Hiring and retention. Hiring personnel and having the responsibility of developing and retaining them. You are responsible for developing a comprehensive talent management process that attracts, onboards, mentors and retains the best sales talent to reach sales goals for the company.
  • Relationship and collaboration. Working cross-functionally with other leadership and executive team members across the group, from product leads to the Chief Marketing Officer, in order to foster collaboration, faster revenue growth and higher profitability.
  • Customer advocacy. Driving customer acquisition strategy for your company by providing a positive and efficient purchasing experience for buyers from initial engagement through purchase completion. The ultimate goal of the VP Sales should be to build the sales process around the customer’s journey rather than forcing a buyer through a complex process with only the sales rep in mind.
  • Lead and supervise: Helping the sales team work more efficiently by having a sound organizational structure, well-designed territories and sectors and clearly defined hiring forecasts based on a number of trigger points.
  • Marketing. You will be responsible for all marketing-related activity across Telcom Networks, working closely with the CMO and marketing team to carry out the company’s marketing strategy, product development, partnerships, marketing communication, digital marketing initiatives and social media management.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Leading, developing, and motivating a sales team.
  • Constant monitoring of progress against goals, anticipating resource requirements, and planning work for your team.
  • Coaching the team on articulating the business value of our solutions and cultivating deep business relationships with executives within client organizations.
  • Ensuring ongoing development of your team, through training and targeted assignments.
  • Provide input into and ensure that sales procedures and policies as defined by the sales leadership are implemented and followed.
  • Drive the alignment to the sales and organisational strategies by creating operational plans and identifying areas for continuous improvement in the sales process.
  • Responsible for the operational management of the team, creating and executing on plans and reporting on the team activities in the required forums.
  • Engage in account planning and assist the team with large or complex deals, where required.
  • Engage with vendors and partners to create go-to-market strategies with their sales teams.
  • Act as mentor/coach and advisor that assists the sales force to set and keep to priority activities.
  • Take final responsibility for the update and accuracy of sales tools/systems and sales reports.

Essential requirements

  • A proven track record selling high volume, high worth telecommunications solutions
  • Experience in curating and delivering against successful business/sales plans in a rapidly changing and scaling environment.
  • A seasoned forecaster - you are always looking forward, removing barriers before they exist and acting proactively as opposed to reactively
  • Extensive Sales business acumen - Success will require focusing on planning, leveraging tools and data, and concentrating on Telcom Networks business requirements.
  • Sales solution skills - the knowledge of Telcom Networks offerings, client applications, use cases and market trends and the skill to apply them to the individual client and prospect situations that position the sales team member as an expert client advisor.
  • A strong analytical and data-driven mindset that translates into leadership skills
  • Ability to inspire employees to live up to their potential and optimise their productivity
  • Monitor performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders
  • Extremely driven, motivated, self-sufficient, collaboratively minded with a highly entrepreneurial nature
  • Experience leading a team of sales professionals.
  • Experience in both organizational and process design at a granular level.

Desired education or accreditations

The following accreditations would be advantageous however training can be provided for the right candidates.

  • Degree or relevant work experience.
  • A valid Driver’s license.
