Safeguarding Lead - 37.5 Hours, Permanent -Home Based Working

The Quality and Compliance team within Alternative Futures Group is led by the Head of Quality and Compliance. The team is comprised of an Investigations & Compliance Manager, Safeguarding Lead and Health & Safety Lead. There are two Quality & Improvement Managers one covering Mental Health and one covering Learning Disability provision of our Community Services and Care Home for people with Learning Disability.
The Safeguarding Lead will provide a key role in providing expert support and advice across the organisation, including our supported living, community-based outreach services, care home and treatment and recovery centres, in delivering person cantered care and support. The role is diverse, challenging and immensely rewarding.
Description of the Service Development Department
The Quality Assurance and Practice Development Team is a central service Department overseeing our quality assurance framework across the organisation. The team provides direction to operational and central service staff to ensure activity is in line with sector standards and regulation. They Provide support, advice and specialist training. Lead policy and system maintenance and review The team supports a culture based on involvement, connecting with local communities and supporting the delivery of high quality service delivery
Main Purpose of Job
To work across departments to ensure the organisation is compliant with regulatory requirements and fulfils its duties and responsibilities in line with Safeguarding legislation and best practice Promote a culture that strives to learn and improve Supporting staff to identify individuals at risk of harm / abuse Providing specialist advice and support to all staff in relation to safeguarding adults at risk across the organisation Undertake initial review when a safeguarding alert has been raised and take the appropriate follow up action required to ensure the appropriate action has been taken and the alert is referred to the relevant agency Improve outcomes for people supported Take a lead on Complaints and Whistle blowing processes to ensure the organisation is compliant and is able to demonstrate outcomes
Principle Accountabilities
To mentor managers and team on required standards and sector regulations governing safeguarding processes and support the improved outcomes for people supported. Specific areas of focus will include; Safeguarding Legislation Care Quality Commission (Health and Social Care Act 2008) Mental Capacity Act Ensure that Quality and Service Governance Systems are implemented to monitor performance against the required regulations and standards. Co-ordinate the work of committees as required and developing information systems to support the same by liaising closely with the information, communication and technology department. Co-ordinate the review of organisational policies and procedures. Provide and assist in the provision of reports to internal and external partners. Lead specialist groups Liaise and act as a point of contact with regulators/commissioners regarding the governance arrangement for Safeguarding vulnerable adults in the organisation. Work with Directors in delivering service that safeguard people supported. Advice and support operational managers in meeting and exceeding sector standards. Collect, collate and analyse information to assist compliance and service improvement. Contribute to the continuous improvement of services for people with learning disabilities and mental Health needs, working closely with colleagues to audit, monitor, review, and develop action plans for improvement. Create links with other organisations which facilitate shared learning and the development of best practice.

Review & Development
Take responsibility for identifying areas for professional development To participate in regular performance reviews based upon previously agreed objectives and targets. To participate in regular supervision sessions with the line manager. To attend training courses as agreed by the line manager.

Location
This role is home based. Travel within the North West of England will be required, therefore a Full UK driving Licence and access to a vehicle is essental to this role.
This Role is Band I as per our Banding Structure.
