LIVE
About The Role
The PTU has an annual budget of £29.5 million, the majority of which is procurable spend. This budget is used to provide transport services for the following areas:
- Transport for 7,000 pupils to mainstream schools
- Transport for 1,200 pupils with special educational needs
- Transport for social care purposes on behalf of both adult & children departments
- Support the commercial bus network
- Support & advice to community transport groups
- Administration of the Councils Concessionary Fares Scheme
As the Roadworks Coordinator you will work closely with the unit’s operational teams, the Highways Team, utilities companies and contractors to ensure that our bus companies and passengers are advised of diversions and bus stop closures in a timely and accurate manner and that inconvenience to the travelling public is minimised. This is a new position within the unit, so we require you to develop previous best practice from across the Bus Network Team and formulate a standard approach across Wiltshire.
The Roadworks Coordinator position is a fantastic opportunity for staff who enjoy the challenges of working on multiple projects at the same time, in an often fast-paced environment.
About You
Educated to A levels / National Diploma level or with the equivalent skills and experience, you will have the ability to work with technical descriptions and plans, devising solutions with input from others, and communicating the outcomes to bus operators, bus passengers and other stakeholders.
You will have experience in working on multiple projects at one time, being able to manage your time to work on several projects at once, sometimes with short lead times. You will need to be able to adapt and change plans rapidly as roadworks don’t always go to plan, updating communications as required.
As an excellent communicator, you will have developed first rate negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to tailor these skills to meet the needs of a wide range of audiences and stakeholders. You will be able to translate often complex information into easy to understand messages, both in print and social media formats.
As part of this post you will be required to produce notices for bus stops and may be required to drive to any part of Wiltshire to erect them. You may also be asked to spend time on site advising passengers and bus company staff about the temporary arrangements.
Interviews will be held week commencing 12th July 2021.
