The Role

This is a an entry level role in a busy Governance & Risk team responsible for the development and maintenance of effective governance, risk management, quality and legal and regulatory compliance at Capsticks. It is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in compliance and risk.

This role is within our G&R Operations Team and reports to our Operations Team Leader. The Governance & Risk Analyst’s primary focus will be on data collection and management, logging incidents, updating spreadsheets and producing reports but will also deal with routine queries on a range of risk and compliance issues, escalating more complex queries to our Executive Team. The Analyst will also assist in maintaining the firm’s quality and information security accreditations.

Training will be given by the G&R team and at least 70% of the training will be on the job training and learning whilst undertaking tasks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Data management

  • Assisting the Operations Team Leader to manage information within the division and present it in an easily understandable way
  • Analyse statistical data and produce reports for various committees which identify and monitor trends
  • Review reports produced by systems checking for compliance with our email policy

Data protection & GDPR

  • Deal with the logging of data breaches and responding to those which are routine
  • Assist with subject access and data deletion requests
  • Organise the Cyber Risks Security Committee

Complaints

  • Logging and tracking complaints to ensure responses and updates are provided in agreed timescales

Professional indemnity

  • Log and track circumstances and claims
  • Send out the quarterly request for declarations of claims and personal interests

Information barriers - conflicts/confidentiality

  • To set up information barriers within the case management system

Training

  • Deliver induction and other compliance training
  • Manage the compliance training platform and monitor the completion of the compulsory online training

Communications

  • Assist with creating a planned programme of compliance communications to the firm and send out weekly communications

Accreditations

  • Assist with the organisation of external audits and take part in these as needed
  • Under the direction of the Operations Team Leader carry out planned audits for the firm’s accreditations

Other duties

  • Undertake horizon scanning for any new developments in the G&R sphere
  • Produce a "bogus firm" report
  • Assisting with projects on an administrative basis

  • The ability to work to tight deadlines on a daily basis and remain calm under pressure;
  • Good interpersonal skills, highly organised and reliable; and
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including use of formulae and pivot tables) and data manipulation.

Experience

  • Educated to degree standard or can demonstrate relevant work experience
