Job Purpose

Senior engineer for restraints system integration activities and component delivery

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with other engineering functions to cascade safety component targets and deliver restraint systems for all vehicle projects
  • Define testing (virtual and physical) for safety component development and sign off testing. Manage safety component test plan.
  • Ensure all design guidelines and engineering specifications are authored and maintained to drive consistency and robust failure mode avoidance.
  • Ensure all failure mode avoidance activities, commodity planning, design progression and DVP testing is completed to achieve Final Engineering sign off in line with timing constraints.
  • Achieve business plan investment and piece cost targets.
Qualification & Experience
  • Extensive experience in Restraints Engineering and Development
  • Proven supplier leadership capability
  • Excellent knowledge of tolerance/variation, testing and development, FMEA, problem solving, DFM & tooling principles, appreciation for VFM.
  • Excellent mechanical engineering background and a comprehensive knowledge of Safety component design, and development and interface to safety attribute delivery.
  • Working knowledge of AMPCS / MISSION or similar Product Creation Process.
  • Experience of directly or indirectly leading cross functional teams (ie purchasing, quality or manufacturing engineering)
  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline
