As a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration you will have significant post qualification experience in the field of Respiratory Disease. With strong communication and organisational skills and a flexible approach, you will work collaboratively with patients and key partners to facilitate the best possible patient experience and outcomes.

Job Description Job Responsibilities

The post holder will be part of the Community Respiratory Nursing Team providing a comprehensive and holistic service for patients with a confirmed diagnosis of respiratory disease. The role requires the post holder to work in a variety of settings, including clinics and the patients home.

This is a dynamic post that requires the post holder to work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams / agencies in addressing a range of complex care / issues across the spectrum of Respiratory Disease management; preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and improving the health and wellbeing of the population served. The nature of the service will be determined by local service specifications.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate Trust Values at all times and demonstrate initiative and creativity towards problem solving.

Qualifications

Person Specification Qualifications & Training Essential

  • Degree in nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with NMC
  • Post Graduate studies in relevant nursing field such as; respiratory disease management, end of life care, long term conditions/palliative care or related/relevant subject
  • Mentorship qualification (998-997)
  • Venepuncture
  • Post qualification courses in nursing
  • Attendance at relevant networks e.g. Special Interest Groups
  • Up to date field work/pre-registration student training

Desirable

  • Modules at Masters level
  • Non-medical Prescribing V300 or working towards
  • Evidence of further clinical study

Experience Essential

  • Relevant experience to the role including assessment and management of respiratory and long term conditions
  • Relevant experience to the role including assessment and management of respiratory and long term conditions
  • Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with respiratory disease and its associated complications
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations
  • Experience in leading and supporting junior staff
  • Experience of involvement in service improvement

Skills & Knowledge Essential

  • Evidence of specialist clinical knowledge relevant to the post
  • Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, NMC standards and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
  • Awareness of relevant national policy and guidance
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate news of a sensitive nature

Desirable

  • Understanding of relevant NICE Guidance
  • Understanding of wider NHS agenda and its application to the local context
