Job Description

Grade PO3: £37,722 - £40,869 pa

The purpose of this role is to deliver the operational elements of the London Borough of Newham’s Resident Involvement/Engagement Strategy. To organise, promote, develop, implement and lead resident involvement and resident scrutiny initiatives and activities and to assist with or directly work on a range of tasks relating to resident involvement, engagement and participation. You will work flexibly within the Resident Involvement and Participation Team as directed by the Head of Resident Involvement and Participation, ensuring all functions are carried out to a high level of accuracy in line with deadlines set.

To be successful in this role you must have:

In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice relating to resident involvement/engagement.

Thorough knowledge of resident engagement tools, techniques and approaches.

Sound knowledge of the housing environment in the public, private rented or voluntary sector.

A good understanding of the use of technology for the delivery of modern and streamlined services and processes.

Relevant degree and/or professional qualification, or relevant work experience of at least 3 years.

Extensive, successful experience of delivering resident involvement initiatives with positive outcomes.

A track record of demonstrating a personal commitment to quality and cost effective public services, informed by customer and community involvement.

Exceptional interpersonal, influencing and relationship management skills and the ability to apply them towards building effective and productive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.

Experience of working in a large, complex organisation.

Experience of successful project management.

A track record of successful partnership working.

About Us
The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the both the Theatre Royal Stratford East and Stratford Circus Arts Centre offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
Newham has a large housing regeneration programme that will build over 1,000 new council homes by 2022.
