An exciting post has become available for a Child Health Research Nurse to work within the Paediatric Department, based at Poole Hospital, University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.The Paediatric Department is very active at UHD offering trials in severe asthma, diabetes, respiratory syncytial Virus (RSV) ,cerebral palsy, febrile infants, epilepsy and neonatal respiratory distress. The post holder will work closely with the clinical staff, consultants and the research team to manage clinical research trials and studies.The successful candidate would ideally have significant experience in child health nursing or NICU and up to date knowledge of child health conditions and treatments underpinned by theory. Previous clinical research experience would also be an advantage. You will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in clinical trials. This will involve the identification, recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data. You will be required to prioritise your own workload and be responsible for the management of a caseload of clinical trial patients. You will be required to work autonomously and will also be responsible for identifying new Research opportunities, coordinating and managing a number of clinical trials.Candidates must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, be highly organised, flexible, have good attention to detail and have the ability to adapt your working day according to what opportunities arise.The post will be working within the child health team, however there will be a need to be flexible in your working approach, and to provide cross-cover and collaboration within the Division where required, possibly other Research Divisions and possibly across both UHD sites.This post is advertised as a Band 6 however if the successful applicant does not fulfil the person specification, we may offer it as a Band 5 with progression to a Band 6 when certain competencies are met – (we would expect this to occur within 6 -18 months).Base Location: Poole HospitalInterview Date: TBCOur values define who we are as #TeamUHD.
