We are looking for a researcher to work on the project of ACE-OPS: From Autonomy to Cognitive Assistance in Emergency Operations under the supervision of Professors Niki Trigoni and Andrew Markham .The aim of the project is to safeguard and transform current operation protocols of emergency teams by providing sensing, situation awareness, welfare monitoring, cognitive assistance and mobile autonomy capabilities working synergistically as a single system.
The role of the research associate in this project will be to build novel sensing systems and algorithms for monitoring the welfare and/or position of emergency responders within the context of an emergency scenario.
The successful candidate will hold or be close to obtaining a PhD in Computer Science or related discipline. You are expected to have sufficient specialist knowledge in the area of cyber physical systems, and be willing to collaborate with others and work effectively as a member of a team. Excellent communication skills are also required, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
This post is a full time (part-time can be considered), fixed term contract until 31 March 2024.
