Job Title: Research and Development Trials Agronomist

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Job Location:Oxfordshire / Warwickshire
Salary: £21,000 - £25,000 depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.
As an R&D Trials Agronomist you will primarily be responsible for the successful delivery of R&D trial activities in accordance with GEP & GLP guidelines. You will be responsible for preparation and organisation of your own trials; working in an efficient and productive manner in small groups and by yourself primarily within the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire region. Travel further afield may also be necessary.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure compliance to all industry standards and SGS quality systems to maintain consistency in our services.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times and follow the correct SGS and client protocols.
- Work with the Field Trials manager (FTM) and Principal investigator(s) (PIs) to generate data and ensure agreed internal and external deadlines are met.
- Assist with the preparation, application and handling of chemicals, to ensure successful trials and the H&S of employees, clients and the public.
- Gather and accurately record trials data for presentation and reporting to clients to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and secure repeat business.
- Carry out efficient and safe sampling, assessing and harvesting of field trials.
- Work efficiently and accurately on pcs and tablets to record and process data.
- Assist the PI/ FTM with the maintenance and upkeep of field trials to ensure trial objectives are met, and all growers are satisfied with the condition of their fields.
Essential
- Experience in dealing with clients, presenting data and answering queries. Computer literate, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build effective relationship with clients and growers
- Ability to effectively solve problems
- Self-motivation skills
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant agricultural / life science subject.
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Use of agricultural machinery
- Experience with a CRO carrying out field trials in the Agricultural, horticultural and Amenity Industry.
- PA1 – Foundation Module for competence in the safe use of pesticides certificate
- PA6 – Hand Held Applicator certificate
