Farm manager required for organic family fruit farm
o 70 acre organic holding near Hereford
o Apples, pears, cherries and plums, with recently planted vineyard
o All fruit is packed and distributed to major box schemes and wholesalers nationally.
o Produce apple juice, cider and just starting wine production.
Farm Manager responsible for day to day management of the farm
o Manage permanent staff and casuals
o Orchard & Vineyard maintenance
o Harvest, cold storage and packing
o Manage packhouse, shipments to customers
o Manage apple juice production
o Basic machinery maintenance and repairs – depending on experience
o Tractor field work, topping, cultivations
o Spraying for nutrition, pest and disease control
o Mechanical weed control
o Irrigation installation and maintenance
o General farm maintenance work
o Hands on role
New Role - Manager required as partners move into semi-retirement
o Partners will continue
§ to provide training and guidance
§ assist in day to day operations as required
§ maintain financial and production records
§ maintain customer relationships
§ farm strategy and Long term planning with manager
Full training provided for our systems and equipment.
You will have some:
o Farming experience orchards or horticulture
o Tractors and attachments, precision driving/timings
o Mechanical aptitude for basic maintenance
o Well organised, identify priorities, produce workplans
o Good attention to detail
o supervising staff
Useful experience/skills
o Organic farming
o Top fruit production
o Workshop skills, maintenance, repair and fabrication
o Spraying qualifications and experience
o Forklift qualification and experience
Remuneration package flexible depending on experience
o Accommodation available
