Every day, we focus on improving musculoskeletal healthcare.Our Mission is to alleviate pain and improve the quality of life around the world.About The RoleHere at Zimmer Biomet Bridgend Plant we have a Reliability Technician position in our Maintenance department available, reporting to the Maintenance Leader with a dotted line to the Manufacturing Leader of the area.Main responsibilities for the Reliability Technician will be to reduce equipment failures and downtime to provide the industry’s highest quality product on time to the customer.Main focus points of this role will be to constantly monitor equipment performance, to identify early-stage component wear and to conduct the associated remediation actions - to prevent equipment downtime. This role will also require constant review of current PM schedules to ensure all frequent failures are actioned at the correct frequency and all essential works are covered.The successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative with limited supervision. You will also be responsible for the timely, efficient repair and preventative maintenance for all manufacturing equipment.Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety at work regulations are always complied with and identify areas of improvement related to safety.
  • Drive maintenance improvement via continuous improvement using reliability data; GEMBA observations and maintenance improvement tools and processes including RCA; Reliability Based Maintenance; FMECA. And DMAIC.
  • Conduct condition monitoring of equipment components – Identify early signs of component failure.
  • Provide continuity on major breakdowns and liaise with vendors/OEM and maintenance Engineer/Leader to ensure equipment is back in production in a timely manner
  • Work alongside the Planning Engineer to Review All PM’s to ensure efficiency and effectiveness are achieved.
  • Work with Production teams to implement and drive TPM
  • Work closely with the Process Engineers to improve equipment reliability and reduce equipment downtime.
  • Working closely with OEM’s to upgrade the reliability and performance of equipment
  • Diagnose the root cause of equipment breakdowns and perform high quality repairs to prevent repeat failure.
  • Support PPM’s and equipment breakdown repairs in a timely & effective manner.
  • Ensure equipment and documentation are compliant to the required standards.
  • Complete all maintenance documentation to the correct standard.
  • Work in a methodical, organized & timely manner.
  • Assess re-occurring issues and implement solution to prevent repeat failure.
  • Provide recommendations of actions that can reduce equipment downtime & improve equipment uptime KPI’s. Use OEE as a key metric to monitor equipment performance.
  • Carryout reasonable tasks as requested by the Maintenance Leader or Manufacturing Leader.
  • Own and be responsible for all critical and non-critical spares on site along with accountability for maintenance stores and inventory.
  • Identify the critical spares that should be held on-site for all equipment.
  • Obtain quotes and raise Purchase orders for works/parts required for both service recommendations and Parts/labour for project work.
  • Attend operations, maintenance and safety meetings as required
Expected Areas of Competence
  • Good Communication Skills, both written and oral
  • Highly motivated, pro-active and thrives under pressure situations and tight deadlines.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Multi-skilled Maintenance Background within a high-volume manufacturing facility. CNC Machine/Wash equipment and Water Treatment plant experience preferred.
  • Time Served-Apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification (HNC, HND etc.), with a minimum 3 years’ experience in High Volume manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvements, PLC’s, Robotics and other control systems
  • High level of Electrical / Mechanical knowledge, able to lead by example, flexible, dynamic & self-managed
  • Microsoft Office, Including Word, Excel, Power Point.
