The West Somerset Integrated Rehabilitation Team (IRT) forms part of the larger Integrated Community Services Team consisting of IRT, District Nursing and Older People’s Mental Health covering Williton, Minehead and the West Somerset community. We are currently looking to expand our community links working in a more collaborative way with patients, other agencies and the voluntary sector within our local neighbourhood.

We are therefore looking for a B3 Rehabilitation Assistant to join our busy team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Senior Rehabilitation Assistants, Rehab Assistants and Pharmacy technicians.

We are looking for someone who understands the principles of rehabilitation and can promote/support independence with our range of patients in their own home, the community hospital and other environments. The post holder will have excellent communication and teamworking skills and be able to engage and motivate others. They will also need to be a car driver and have their own transport.

The Rehabilitation Assistant post will cover aspects of rehab from both an occupational therapy and physiotherapist workload and work will be delegated by either profession. Having an understanding of these professions is therefore vital. The Rehabilitation Assistant’s role will include working with patients to enable them to achieve their personal physical and functional goals. This may include carrying out personal care assessments, supporting transfers and mobility, practicing functional tasks and exercises and educating and promoting self management.

This post is for 37.5 hours per week which will need to be worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday. The Integrated Rehabilitation Team work between 08.30 and 16.30 and provide a 7 day a week service including bank holidays. The post holder will also be required to work occasional weekends and bank holidays.

We provide competency based training programmes and opportunities to develop skills in rehabilitation. There may also be opportunity for career progression through an Apprenticeship scheme. Staff wellbeing is important to us and we hold regular wellbeing events.
