The opportunity where you will make an impact:



The Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for ensuring that regulatory strategies and regulatory activities are effectively executed to meet the business objectives and legal requirements. This role has a functional reporting relationship into the Director of Regulatory Affairs, International with a close, dotted line relationship into the Product Supply Director UK, EU & Russia.



This position can be based in Middlesbrough or London, UK.



Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensuring Product Compliance to local regulations



  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures or local working practices.
  • Work closely with R&D to ensure product formula compliance with European regulations and standards.
  • Ensure Label compliance as per local regulations.
  • Experience with evaluating and editing promotional materials for food and food supplements.
  • Support Commercial teams with product notifications as per business needs ensuring supply continuity.

2. Managing External Regulatory / Govt. bodies / Customs



  • Provide responses to regulatory agencies regarding product information or issues.
  • Assist with activities such as audits, regulatory agency inspections, or product recalls.
  • Develop relationships with various regulatory agencies, as required.
  • Assist with investigations relative to product complaints and prepare documentation and submissions to appropriate regulatory agencies as necessary.

3. New Product Introduction Support



  • Develop regulatory strategies and implementation plans for new products.
  • Involve in project implementation from regulatory perspective for new product introductions.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to departments or development project teams regarding design, development, evaluation, or marketing of products.
  • Support marketing team on creating new product pipelines.

4. Customer, Stakeholders and Sourcing Site Regulatory Collaboration



  • Train Internal and external stakeholders on regulatory policies or procedures.
  • Communicate regulatory information to cross-functional teams and ensure that information is interpreted correctly.
  • Extend support to customers in case of product clearance/customs as needed.

5. Other Responsibilities



  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations, including proposed and final rules.
  • Monitor emerging trends and enforcement efforts regarding industry regulations to determine potential impacts on organizational processes.
  • Ensure regulatory priorities are in harmony with GPN business priorities.
  • Sustaining membership with ESSNA; actively participating in forums and meetings to provide insights to likely market & legislative changes and providing a platform through which GPN can influence decisions of authorities in countries we trade in.
  • Fostering and developing relationships with UK and EU trade & appropriate government departments bodies (and others in regions of interest) to improve the transition of our goods across borders and to manage the impacts of policy changes internally in good time and to the best outcome.
  • Active contributor to the regional supply Leadership team as a subject matter expert and a business / brand builder.
  • As a member of this team, you will be expected to positively add to the culture of the organization and participate across the broad spectrum of activity the function is responsible for in order to deliver on the total organizational goals. What you will bring to GPN:



  • Has proven experience of working with regional / country specific regulatory bodies, government agencies, customs etc.
  • Has a strong knowledge of EU harmonized law as well as non-harmonized areas of food law.
  • Capable of handling additional responsibilities based on business needs outside core geographic region that is relevant to business needs with support from GPN Regulatory Affairs Team.
  • Understanding of the dedicated sports lifestyle and a strong passion for building nutritional products that support this sector.
  • Strong leadership skills in managing/influencing teams.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Experience and ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people and markets.
  • Ability to innovate and take initiatives.
  • Strong ability to research, analyse, problem solving and project management.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
  • Fluent in English; a second European language would be an asset
  • 7-10 years of experience in managing regulatory affairs in food and nutrition industries
  • Related regulatory experience with administering local laws and regulations
  • Experience with food supplement notifications in European Member States
