As a Barclays Rates Electronic Trading Developer, you’ll be part of our C++ Development Electronic Trading Team. This dedicated team is responsible for the development and support of the front office applications and systems that used to support the Macro business globally. As a key member of this team, this an exciting opportunity for you to take ownership of all perform activities related to the development.

What will you be doing?
• Working closely with trading, quant, and product teams, partnership with first-line support teams, and interaction with lateral functions such as risk, controls, and compliance
  • Working with the vendor to analyse requirements to find the most appropriate method for incorporating them into existing systems
  • Developing requirements including making the necessary changes in the internal adapters as well as the vendor system
  • Reviewing Unit / system / regression / performance testing /conduct code for business requirements
  • Providing inventive/novel solutions to business issues within short timescales
  • Maintaining our commitment to a global code base and ensure other regions are kept informed of breaking changes
  • Undertaking analysis of change requests/incidents against applications / products within domain
  • Taking charge of story based development & unit test and adherence to all coding standards
What we’re looking for:
• Experience of Object Oriented Analysis and Design Concepts and experience using object orientated programming languages
  • Hands-on Java knowledge with experience working with low latency messaging systems such as Kafka and Solace, preferably on Unix platforms
  • Extensive knowledge of distributed systems within a Micro-Service architecture
  • Ability to understand, implement and influence security concepts and solutions with an analytical approach to root cause identification and pro-active design improvement
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Knowledge of Object Orientated programming languages such as C++, C# and python
  • Knowledge of Relational Databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server), XML and JSON
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies, Test Driven Development, Continuous Delivery and System integration
  • A keen interest in modern software development, utilizing state of the art technologies
