Meet and receive patients on arrival, checking patient identification in accordance with legislative requirements, make patients comfortable and ensure that they have an understanding of events
during their visit.
Undertake clerical duties, ensuring patient/examination details are entered accurately onto the Radiology Management System prior to examinations being undertaken.
Answer telephone calls and deal with enquiries from patients, carers, guardians, clinicians and other healthcare staff.
Take messages as required for radiology staff ensuring information is accurate and relayed in a timely manner.
Communicate with patients as required to arrange and/or confirm radiology appointments.
Comply with the Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and legislation issued in relation to confidential data at all times.
Liaise with nursing and portering staff to assist in the provision of an efficient patient centred service, e.g. patient preparation for radiological examinations and patient transfer arrangements
Comply with all statutory and departmental policies and procedures including: o Ionising radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 IR(ME)R , e.g. wearing of lead aprons and other personal
protective equipment as appropriate to the controlled area of work.
Main duties of the job
The staff will predominantly be based in an admin office environment, with their main roles including reception, general clerical and administrative tasks but they may also be required to undertake general patient care duties. There may also be a requirement to cover this role in community based Radiology departments.
The post holder should ideally have experience of working within a Radiology department or other healthcare setting.
Hours will be rostered during the daytime and evening of weekdays and weekends.
It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent patient care, communication and team working skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
