WORKING HOURS – Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

What will you be doing?

This is an exciting role where you will be working within a small Lens Design & Metrology team to develop new and existing contact lens products, as well as ensuring the regulatory requirements for this development phase of a product’s lifecycle are met. This will involve testing and development of metrology techniques for the measurement of contact lenses, including various data analysis and statistics techniques. This metrology development may also stretch to plastic parts and metal tooling at all stages of the contact lens manufacturing process.

You will be developing new and novel lens designs for testing both in-vivo and in-vitro, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance. You will be building relationships and interacting with R&D personnel, regulatory teams, manufacturing, and their support function. It is also likely there will be a need to communicate with 3rd parties such as suppliers, contractors, or other development partners.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Participation in the lens design & design verification processes.
  • Identify new methods of product metrology, and improve existing methods and techniques, to guide product development and process control.
  • Generation & development of metrology operating procedures, ensuring that new and existing metrology methods and Design Verification testing and reports comply to regulatory requirements.
  • Training of R&D and manufacturing personnel in the use of new & existing equipment.
  • To support the development of products and processes at acceptable cost, volume, and quality performance levels through the production of new tooling designs.
  • To assist in the identification of improvement areas and to improve accordingly using a data driven approach.
  • Design of experiments, data analysis and reporting, including hands-on management and execution of trials.
  • Writing of protocols & reports for technical studies, verifications and validations.

What key skills and experience should you have?

We would ideally like you to have the following:

  • Batchelor’s/Master’s Degree in Engineering Math’s or physics – you may be a recent graduate looking to develop a career or someone with experience that holds this
  • Practical experience in Medical Device/Pharmaceutical would advantageous however we would consider any mechanical engineering/Aerospace Engineering background/Oil and gas etc. or exposure to these industries
  • Data Analysis and statistics advantageous
  • Good IT skills.
  • Good presentation and report writing skills.
