We’re looking for a SHE & Quality Manager to join our Transportation team based in Retford / Wymondham. Kier Highways Solutions provides a one-stop-shop end to end works management and delivery from carriageway treatment design, product manufacture, installation, temporary traffic Management through to civils, patching & road markings. Kier Highways Solutions have national coverage for the supply and installation of carriageway surface dressing and carriageway patching and have national traffic management delivery capability as well as a team of CAD designers providing traffic management design solutions. KHS also manufacture and sell bituminous road emulsions as well as bespoke bituminous products and roofing products. What will you be responsible for?

As SHE & Quality Manager, you’ll be working within the SHEQ team, supporting them in all matters connected to safety, environmental, wellbeing, quality, technical and training.

Your day to day will include:

  • Overseeing implementation and maintaining of safe systems of work in accordance with Kier Transportation SHE Policy and procedures with all legal requirements and best practice
  • Implementing Kier Group’s Integrated Management System (IMS), policy and procedures and all legal requirements, ensuring the Kier Highways Solutions business unit is compliant with all Kier IMS and contract specific requirements, implementing Kier Group’s Integrated Management System (IMS), policy and procedures and all legal requirements
  • Promoting a “Right first time” culture, encouraging and supporting the creation of a functional culture that embraces and supports health & safety principles and goals, management of training requirements & identifying training needs
  • Preparing and delivering training on the quality system, managing appraisals, identifying development needs for direct reports, ensuring timely achievement of appraisal program
  • Measuring, monitoring and reporting on quality performance against the agreed objectives and KPIs, monitoring production of assurance records in accordance with the programme to ensure that individual elements of work can be signed off as work progresses, undertaking investigations into non-conformances, identifying root causes and improvement actions, reviewing NCRs and audit findings analysing trends and preparing / delivering training & briefings to the team to disseminate findings and provide learning

  • You can demonstrate proven leadership qualities in a similar health & safety environment with a track record of delivering team / business goals
  • Able to influence key stakeholders and enforce SHEQ policies, both customer and client focussed
  • A thorough understanding of health & safety including CDM, working knowledge of IOS 14001, 9001 & OHSAS 1800, with experience in management of programmes and budgets
