Purpose
To work with NPD to ensure that product quality is maintained from Design & Development to mass production. To provide pre & post launch support for new products and identify & realise value engineering opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Definition of product quality, specifications & test requirements.
- Apply APQP methods as required to ensure that designed and sourced product meets the required specifications and standards.
- Providing input on product quality throughout the design & development & sourcing process.
- Co-ordination of product test programmes including the management of external test facilities.
- Supplier liaison
- Defining Supplier process quality requirements
- On-site new product introduction process co-ordination
- Reviewing and approving Supplier production/assembly processes.
- Reviewing product designs & expediting changes following product launch.
- Conducting product investigations to determine root cause analysis of field failure.
- Working with Suppliers/NPD team & managing the resolution of product quality issues including root cause analysis and effective corrective action.
- Managing post launch product changes
- Post launch support – Spares, Service bulletins/sheets, maintaining technical files.
- Pre-launch support – Co-ordination of product Approvals, Rating labels, Product notifications.
What we need from you:
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Experience in investigating product quality issues and root cause analysis using 8d methodology, leading to corrective action planning and implementation.
- Practical experience of applying Advanced Quality Planning techniques to the new product introduction process as well completion of PPAP.
- Experience of DFMEA/PFMEA
- Injection moulding experience would be advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to confidently and clearly communicate information across the department and to key stakeholders.
- Good level of problem solving ability applying a methodical approach to discover, identify and resolve issues encountered.
- Ability to analyse data and extract key information.
- Innovative approach to work displaying creativity and the ability to build on and develop existing practices.
- Computer literacy
- Use of Microsoft packages essential
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Previous experience in a Senior engineering role.
- Previous experience in working in a role which involved a hands on approach to products.
- Engineering experience within a similar industry or Automotive/Aerospace.
- Strong engineering bias/mind-set.
Education
- Experience in a similar role within Engineering/Manufacturing is essential.
- Engineering degree or diploma desirable.
- Project management qualification desirable.
