Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an expert in the field who is able to undertake scheduled and breakdown maintenance of plant, equipment, machinery, safety system and the facilities infrastructure. The role is across 2 sites which are 1.5 miles apart.

Ensure all plant safety systems, site utilities, storage, loading and access control, and transportation are inspected, tested and compliant with local and national legislation and complies with company insurance regulations.

Provide an interface with external contractors and agencies to ensure plant and equipment is maintained, tested, and inspected.

Maintain all records of maintenance and plant inspections for legal compliance.

Key Tasks

  • To support the Head Of Facilities in associated activities in respect to Health, Safety and Facilities management.
  • Inspection and Testing of all safety monitoring and protection equipment across all sites
  • Inspection and Testing of all lifting, loading, storage and access door systems including all interlocks and safety mechanisms.
  • Inspection and testing of utilities to site including distribution networks and point of use and liaise where required with all Utilities Suppliers.
  • Electrical safety inspections and PAT testing.
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Responding to plant and facilities breakdowns
  • Diagnosing faults and providing suitable internal and / or external corrective action
  • Maintaining statistical and legal compliance records to ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Provide an ’on-call’ support for all sites, particularly where continual 24-hour operation is maintained.
  • Conduct H&S audits for plant and equipment to identify areas of risk, damage and to suggest opportunities for improvement, specifically highlighting any breaches in compliance and legislation and recommending and implementing corrective actions to ensure closure
  • Liaise and supervise external contractors and inspection authorities regarding reactive, planned and preventative maintenance activities and site inspections and testing.
  • Working at height (up to 15m) via plant access equipment for maintenance activities.

Required Skills

  • SEMA License For Inspection, Testing, Repair & Installation (Training may be provided)

City & Guilds Qualification in General Maintenance

  • 17th regulations For Electrical Safety
  • Certificate & Health & Safety
  • FLT License for Counterbalance and PPT
  • IPAP License for Use Of MEWP
  • PAT Testing qualification for inspection & Testing.
  • Good background knowledge of Fire Safety Systems including Sprinklers, Alarms and Air Monitoring
  • Good background knowledge of lifting equipment, MHE and warehouse loading systems.
  • General knowledge of electrical plant, equipment and distribution in warehouse facilities would be an advantage
  • Computer literate in the use of packages including Microsoft Windows, Email, Word & Excel , PowerPoint.
  • Experience in internal auditing, section of plant and risk assessment.
  • Hold and full and current clean driving license
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Ability to communicate directly with all levels of employees, management and customers.
