About the job:

Kent is recruiting for an Alliance Quality Engineer (QC) required for work on Fawley Refinery. Working under the Alliance QM and overseeing Alliance Partner Quality execution and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure you gain a thorough knowledge of all the mechanical Turnaround work scope. Execute and improve QA procedures to meet the Project codal requirements and in accordance with Best Practice.
  • Submit “Electronically” or “manually” all NDE request, that shall include: NDE type, Location of testing, Pipe details (material, size & thickness) target date etc.
  • Advise the management team, inspection, and NDT staff in the agreed QA procedures. Review weld defect reports and implement correct action where necessary.
  • Produce and distribute QA proformas.
  • Set up a database to manage Statutory work, modifications, pipework and supporting documentation requirements effectively.
  • Audit compliance during pre-work.
  • Oversee the Completion of the quality dossier for pre-fabrication material.
  • Oversee correct WPS and Consumable execution.
  • Oversee Preparation of all documentation for “hand over packs “
  • Oversee Markup weld maps and records.
  • To assist the Alliance QM in the management and control of Quality.
  • Oversee Preparation and maintenance of the project QC file.
  • Implementation of contract specific QA/QC Procedures.
  • Carry out Quality induction of the supervisory personnel.
  • Oversee the control system for the storage and issue of welding consumables, through the stores.
  • Revise as required, quality documents to suit, following the Alliance review for approval.
  • Oversee the Producing of weld procedures and ITP for individual work packs that contain a welding requirement.
  • Liaise with the Field Superintendent providing technical assistance where necessary. Evaluate project requirements and where applicable liaise with the Customer’s Technical Department in resolution of quality problems.
  • Oversee the monitoring of welding activities to ensure compliance with the company Welding Control Procedures.
  • Review weld defect reports and implement corrective active where necessary.
  • Ensure the Welding Procedures and the Alliance Welding Engineer reviews non- destructive Examination Procedures.
  • Ensure that Welders are qualified, and the Alliance representative approves their certificates/registers.
  • Oversee the Maintenance of a site library of qualified Welding Procedures and associated registers.
  • Liaise with the Alliance Welding Engineer in the resolution of welding problems/activities.
  • Liaise with the Alliance Partner Quality Reps in the resolution of any quality related problem/activities.
  • Oversee the Ensuring that welding instruments are maintained in good conditions and are calibrated regularly.
  • Issue weekly Dashboards with Quality Delivery progress with metrics against established Project KPI
  • Deputise for Alliance QM at meetings or during Annual leave.
  • Prepare Power Point Presentations to visualise Quality Delivery, debt, progress, success, improvements.
  • Liaise closely with Alliance Engineering Team to facilitate TQ.
  • Liaise closely with Alliance Construction Team to provide functional Quality Support within the Alliance Work Package areas.
  • Oversee the Requesting of inspection activities: -ultra sonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant testing, radiography, Iris testing and camera inspection.
  • Liaise with third party inspection team.
  • Oversee and maintain reports, surveys and pass on to interested parties.
  • Liaise with Area teams to ensure that appropriate QA records are recorded and maintained.
  • Overseeing the Update of the database of information supporting the QA and modifications systems to ensure that system handovers are not delayed due to paperwork non-conformance Audit the correct applications of QA procedures.
  • Investigate and report on quality non-conformances.
  • Oversee quality of weld inspections: - “preps”, joint “set-ups”, final welds and ensure correct testing is carried out at the relevant stages.
  • Ensure fabrication spec and weld procedure are adhered to and that the correct consumables are used.
  • Oversee Quality checks all work when completed and ensure all documents and Control Sheets are signed and dated.
  • Ensure all statutory paperwork signed off.
  • Oversee Selection of correct consumable certification.
  • Ensure correct material certification is on file.
  • Oversee the Makeup of QA packs by job number/area.
  • Ensure completed Alliance Partner work packs are signed off welding inspector. The welding QA pack is to be included in the main work pack for the job.
  • Review completed packs for sign off and hand over.
  • The Quality Assurance dossier and submit to the Alliance on completion of the project.
  • Compile a report on the application of the QA system and opportunities for improvement.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • Previous Quality experience in oil & gas projects.
  • CSWIP 3.1 or Higher.
  • PCN Level 2 RI preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills English required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Possess strong quality systems and business acumen and in-depth knowledge of ISO procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of pre-qualification and supply chain quality management.
  • Collaborative team player - Should be able to establish solid working relationships with stakeholders across all regions and functions within the organization.
  • Ability to work with regional managers and suppliers in driving improvement projects.
  • Good Quality experience in Special Processes such as Welding, NDE, Coating, Stress relieving, Pressure Testing and Dimensional Survey.
