Job Title: Purchasing Assistant

Location: Crumlin

Job Type: Part Time (24hrs) - 5 hours per day Mon - Thurs - 4 hours on Friday

Salary: Up to £25k per annum (pro-rata £15,385 pa)

Purpose of Role

To support the requirement of production & prototype part purchasing, supplier development and customer/supplier logistical control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase of components to support production, prototype builds, ensuring best value for these specialised components
  • Communicate with suppliers on lead times, pricing, delivery dates
  • Request quotations & raise purchase orders
  • Build and maintain a good relationship with suppliers
  • Assist the Purchasing Supervisor in developing existing & new component and tooling suppliers
  • Ensure that all Purchase Orders across the business are placed with the best value suppliers
  • Ensure that all materials are ordered and managed via the SAGE MRP system aligned to production POs/Schedules/EDIs/Requirements and prototype builds
  • Support the Business Unit Project Managers to ensure all purchasing timings are met for new projects
  • Management of logistical requirements at both supplier & OEM, ensuring customer & programme delivery expectations are met
  • Support the Purchasing Supervisor & Quality Manager in supplier audits for prototype parts and tooling
  • Assist the Purchasing Supervisor in ensuring that annual contracts are controlled, and that sufficient timing is generated to allow for the appropriate levels of negotiation
Key Requirements
  • Maintain a high standard of Health and Safety based upon safe working practices and support environmental initiatives
  • Ideally holding a minimum HND in Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering (or equivalent) (CIPS accredited would be desirable not essential)
  • The ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders across the business
  • Experience working in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to read a technical drawing
  • Competent in communicating technical requirements to the supply base whilst in-turn issuing succinct feedback to the programme team
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Be able to listen and communicate with senior management, suppliers, and staff to a high level
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under frequent changing priorities
  • Demonstrated project management experience driving to successful project completion
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Computer literacy including Word and Excel; Sage 200 experience would be desirable
