Job Role: Purchaser

Location: Stourbridge

Hours of Work: Flexible Hours - 5 / 6 Hours per day

Pay Rate: Negotiable

Mainstay Recruitment are currently seeking a Purchaser on behalf of one of the leading distributors in their industry. As a Purchaser you will be responsible and accountable for the purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure the company’s operational needs are met, taking into consideration price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply and customer timeframes for delivery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Managing and developing all aspects of the company supply chain. Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.
  • Developing supplier relations and performance.
  • Driving supplier performance improvement including quality and on-time delivery.
  • Developing and supporting cost reduction initiatives to drive efficiencies and improvements in procurement processes/systems.
  • Managing the entire purchasing process.
  • Working with Engineering/QA/Manufacturing/Finance to ensure all business and customer requirements are met.
  • Working with manufacturing, engineering colleagues and suppliers to help solve technical and quality issues. Conducting research on potential products, vendors, and services, and comparing price and quality to ensure the best deal.
  • Meeting with vendors and clients to negotiate the best contracts.
  • Liaising with delivery and warehouse teams to ensure goods are received on time.
  • Researching potential suppliers.
  • Comparing and evaluating offers from suppliers.
  • Negotiating contract terms of agreement.

Candidate Requirements
  • Experience as a Planner/Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Buyer or Strategic Buyer within plastic manufacturing and engineering.
  • Ability to take ownership and resolving supplier issues.
  • The ability to use and understand, planning and procurement data/parameters to drive decision making.
  • Capable of working under-pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good time keeping, prioritisation and workload management skills.
  • Microsoft Office and Sage literate.
  • Proactive in suggesting new methods and techniques to improve efficiency and buying techniques.
  • A team orientated, can do, positive outlook.
