If you’re a lover of literary fiction and go crazed by the classics, we have a rare and exciting opportunity for an Assistant to join the team at Everyman.


A bit about us

Everyman’s Library have one of the largest series of hardback classics in the UK and USA, publishing the finest editions written by Nobel Laureates and Booker Prize-Winning authors. With a backlist of over 650 stunning editions, and publishing around 20 new titles each year, the team are in need of a new assistant to support them.


What you’ll be doing

Working within a very small team, the Assistant will primarily support the Publisher of Everyman. This includes donning many hats from editing to marketing and publicity to being the spokesperson for Everyman on our social channels. Of course, the role also includes much administrative support including drafting and managing author contracts.


You can expect a fast paced and varied day. One moment you might be editing volumes and the next pulling together the seasonal newsletter. Although the role is notentry level, it will allow you to learn on the job and training of our systems and processes will be provided.


What you’ll bring

What’s most important to us is interest and curiosity. You’ll be working with finest editions available of the world’s greatest classics from Homer to Achebe, Tolstoy to Ishiguro, Proust to Pullman. We’ll need you to be knowledgeable on these subjects and personable when liaising with authors and scholars.


This role has many strands so being disciplined and an excellent organiser is a must. You’ll be a fast learner and IT literate in Microsoft Office. Perhaps you’ve worked in a library or bookshop, a literary agency or even an events company. We are looking for people with a literary curiosity and passion, which they can bring to work with them every day.

Salary
: Up to £25,000 depending on skills and experience
