Pupil referral Unit Teaching Assistant PRU Teaching Assistant Role location: Billingham, Stockton Starting date: Immediately Salary: £75-£90 per day Monday-Friday 8:00am-4.00pm Empowering Learning are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Billingham who require Teaching Assistants to start ASAP. Are you a passionate, dedicated an experienced teaching assistant looking to use your skills to support more challenging disengaged pupils? We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled, motivated, enthusiastic pupil referral Unit Teaching Assistant to support pupils at one of our ’outstanding’ schools located in Billingham. This role will involve: Supporting children with challenging behaviour and SEND on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Build positive relationships with students and staff Managing challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive manner. Having a "hands on" approach to supporting children in their learning, with a willingness to interact with young people and develop new skills. High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children. Working with teachers to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience.The successful candidate will: Have a creative approach to teaching and provide not only academic but also emotional and pastoral support to pupils. The candidate will have outstanding behaviour and classroom management skills and will develop positive relationships with staff and pupils. The teaching assistant will be committed, dedicated and resilient, whilst understanding the reasons why children can display challenging behaviour and be able to de-escalate and support children proactively. Support children in a non-judgemental, non-confrontational manner. Be able to work independently and as part of a team and show initiative. Demonstrate that they are effective teaching assistants that have a wealth of experience in supporting teaching, learning, SEND pupils and children that display complex and challenging behaviours. Understand the role of a teaching assistant in supporting the class teacher and ensuring the learning environments are maintained to a high standard. Be able to deliver small group or 1:1 learning / social, emotional and behavioural programmes to secure outstanding progress.
