Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Prop Shop Scenic Painting Manager for our dynamic and growing company specialising in production props, set, and interior design. As the Scenic Painting Manager, you will oversee the entire scenic painting process, ensuring the highest quality standards are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget. This is a hands-on role that requires strong leadership skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for creating visually stunning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the scenic painting department, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow coordination.
  • Lead and inspire a team of scenic painters, providing guidance, training, and motivation to deliver exceptional workmanship.
  • Collaborate closely with the production team, designers, and clients to understand project requirements and translate them into creative and innovative scenic painting concepts.
  • Develop and implement painting techniques and processes to achieve the desired aesthetic and artistic vision while meeting project timelines.
  • Ensure the safe handling and usage of materials, tools, and equipment in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain an inventory of painting supplies, manage procurement, and track expenses to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Conduct regular quality checks to maintain the highest level of craftsmanship and resolve any issues or defects promptly.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and emerging technologies related to scenic painting, and implement relevant advancements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the production team to estimate project costs, provide accurate quotes, and monitor budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional development opportunities for the scenic painting team.
  • Ensure team timesheets are completed accurately and on time.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Scenic Design, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Scenic Painting Manager or similar role in a production props, set, or interior design company.
  • Strong understanding of scenic painting techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Proficient in various painting styles, including faux finishes, texturing, aging, and distressing.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required by project timelines.
