Job Title: Project Quality Manager-Civils & Infrastructure

Location: Blyth

Job Purpose

ISG have recently secured a £500m new build Battery Gigaplant project in Blyth, and this role will be to ensure that the total project processes and procedures are identified, documented where required, and are implemented effectively. This position should also ensure that the management systems are continuously developed to meet changing business needs and, where appropriate, the specific requirements identified by external standards and customers. This is to be achieved through both individual actions and those of the Quality Team.

KeyResponsibilities
  • Takes a proactive approach to planning for quality. Conducts upfront pre-delivery inspections & supports in the vetting of the supply chain.
  • Leads, coordinates and documents offsite quality visits.
  • Supports the construction manager and project manager in the planning of the works to achieve best in class quality through buildability solutions
  • Reviews designs and engages with the professional services teams to ensure quality of construction is considered through the design process.
  • Works with and the engineering teams to develop solutions to quality issues.
  • Assisting in maintenance of the company management system to remain compliant with ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 and other standards to which the company subscribes and promote company visions and values.
  • Working with members of the delivery teams to ensure that customer requirements are addressed by the management systems or project specific procedures.
  • Working with the delivery teams to ensure that all staff are aware of and have access to the company management systems required to be able them to perform their jobs effectively, safely and without undue risk to the business.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the company processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that the business remains compliant with the current legislation and that processes and procedures are updated to ensure compliance.
  • Carry out inspections and audits to ensure compliance to the company management systems and any customer requirements.
  • Carry out end of project reviews in line with the Absolute Completion process.
  • Manage / assist customer and third-party audits and inspections as may be directed by the ISG Senior management.
  • Assist with the collection of data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), including quality audits, non-conformance, customer complaint, customer satisfaction, supplier feedback, (HS&E data collected separately).
  • Produce local / project reports and assist in the collation of monthly department Board Report for Q&S department.
  • Undertake Induction of new employees into the company systems and procedures.
  • Undertake training of staff and suppliers on company best practice.
  • Assist with the pre-qualification process for new subcontractors.
  • Attend forums, meetings etc to ensure that best practice is shared across all ISG companies where practical.
  • Conducts regular on-site inspections, reports on the best practises and promotes the right first time mentality


Experience & Skills
  • Experienced manager able to direct a team, and others that do not report directly.
  • Experienced managing of quality on major civils and infrastructure projects, with package values upwards of £50m
  • Experience and understanding of quality issues within construction. Main focus to be quality but knowledge of environmental and health & safety issues would be beneficial.
  • Have a good knowledge of construction processes and standards.
  • Computer literate.
  • Must be able to evaluate information to assess compliance with requirements and identify improvement opportunities. This should include the ability to analysis data to identify trends.
  • Fully proficient IT skills, inclusive of AutoCAD software and the Microsoft suite of office programme inclusive of teams and remote working abilities, BIM 365 & SharePoint.
  • Organisational skills and workload prioritising.

  • A commitment to identify, develop, direct and implement key objectives
  • Able to deal with staff, clients and external customers.


Qualifications
  • Internal auditor qualification, essential for ISO9001, preferred for 14001 and OHSAS18001.
  • Technically qualified - Degree level preferred
  • CSCS card
