DESIGN THE FUTURE WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our team in York, giving you the opportunity to co-create with our experts on some of the most prestigious infrastructure programmes in the UK. Working alongside the design and engineering teams you’ll be responsible for project planning and operation, including time, economy, deliverables, and quality, on mid to large size projects. You’ll also be given the opportunity to provide input to line management on performance and potential of project staff on projects.
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Project and resource planning and its implementation in compliance with COWI’s integrated management system
  • Communicating with clients; including obtaining all the required input material and coordinate with the project team for timely delivery and as per agreed quality criteria
  • Tracking and achieving project financial performance, demonstrating sound project financial performance understanding
  • Reviewing production processes, workflows and implementing improvements
  • Forecasting project turnover and performance
  • Resolution of administrative issues within the Project/Group and guiding and mentoring more junior staff
  • Identifying development requirements within the project team and giving effective feedback

Furthermore, you’ll be:

  • CEng MICE, MIStructE or equivalent qualification is desirable, although a civil/structural/geotechnical/rail engineering background would be preferable and advantageous
  • Being able to demonstrate a deep understanding and passion for engineering and a personal commitment to technical excellence is essential
  • Project Management certification and relevant experience
  • Direct client-handling experience
  • Have significant experience in a design environment working on complex infrastructure projects
  • Have significant experience leading project teams and managing the delivery of projects, either as client’s or contractor’s designer, ideally both
  • Be an accomplished team leader with the ability to support, mentor and develop less experienced engineers
  • Have the inter-personal skills and aptitude to work collaboratively in a diverse multi-disciplinary team
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
