Brief Description


In order to achieve its goals, Network Rail has created a new national organisation. The key purpose of the Infrastructure Investment function is the efficient delivery of renewals and enhancements through improved specification, better utilisation of resources and the professional control and management of projects. Its focus is to renew and enhance the rail infrastructure to deliver our commitments for the future through increased efficiency and value for money. The Programme Manager will develop specific programmes of work in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and company standards.

Please note that this is a 12 month fixed-term opportunity.


About the role (External)


A key part of this role will be to develop and deliver a specific programme of work on time and to budget within corporate guidelines. An ability to manage the effective development and management of suppliers and staff to meet all corporate standards will be required, in particular those relating to safety, quality and environment.

The successful candidate will manage the effective development and management of suppliers to meet Programme requirements, developing and managing the Programme team. You’ll have the ability to maintain effective relationships with key investment customers and stakeholders so that all communications with outside bodies are agreed. You will undertake accident investigation and comply with the Investment Competence Framework.

Do you have . ?

  • A relevant professional qualification with chartered status?
  • Experience in management of major programmes of work in the rail industry?
  • Construction design management competence?
  • Experience in Accident investigation?
  • Strong commercial and financial focus as well as knowledge of Health and Safety legislation?

We adhere to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: starting at £68,099 per annum and increasing to £76,612 per annum.

Salary: £68,099 - £76,612
