Production Supervisor- LATE SHIFT 15:15 - 23:15

Our client is world renowned manufacturer of next generation fibre and optic products which are utilised within semiconductor applications and medical diagnostic devices, they utilise highly sophisticated laser production techniques in order to meet growing demand from their global customer base.

They are currently in a phase of rapid growth and expansion from both a people perspective and capital expenditure in their Hamble based facility.

Their products are innovative and complex and their ethos is low volume and high quality.

This role will be responsible for leading the late shift (between 15:15-23:15hrs) Monday - Friday.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Line Manager to Production Team Leaders and stores personnel
  • Allocate resources to ensure that business goals are met
  • Ensure company procedures are followed and Team Leaders fulfill responsibilities as required
  • Compile reports and chair Weekly Operations/Risks Review and Weekly Production Review
  • Monitor & conduct monthly reviews; staff KPIs, performance reviews & Return to Work Interviews
  • Organising & coordination of Product & (Cross) Production Training to build organizational agility
  • Coordinate with Operations Director & HR Manager on any relevant external training requirements
  • Identify skill requirements and interview potential candidates with recruitment team
  • Maintain manufacturing housekeeping ensuring clarity of processes and WIP to 6S Standards
  • Ensure that all H&S and Environmental Policies, Procedures & Work Instructions are adhered to
  • Review and completion of H&S & Laser Risk Assessments with support of EHS & Laser Officers
  • Organize manufacturing to ensure that products are manufactured achieving OTD and OTIF
  • Implementation & coordination of Capacity Planning and completion of Works Order Database
  • Highlight future delivery risks to management through risk outlook planning
  • Ensure all production processes are up to date and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Ensure production compliance with QMS, support 8D investigations & correct completion of Concessions & Deviation Permits
  • Ensure Returns are completed with a high level of customer service and speed of response
  • Ensure Material Review Board procedures are followed and production execute required actions
  • Optimize equipment, material utilization and work patterns to increase productivity
  • Ensure production equipment is calibrated, maintained and controlled
  • Coordinate with Stores, Production Planning and Supply Chain on materials shortages
  • Identify opportunities for Process Improvement & Cycle Time Reduction

This role will be required to be a Fire Marshal and Mustering Officer for Fire Safety

Essential requirements:

  • Relevant Production Supervision experience leading teams in manufacturing in a high precision industry
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001:2015 requirements
  • Production and capacity planning experience in using an ERP system (SAP or equivalent)
  • Manufacturing process experience & knowledge in relevant industry
  • Performance management & development
  • Flexible in terms of changing work procedures, varying tasks and an ability to adapt to situation
  • Effective IT Skills (MS Powerpoint; Outlook, Excel etc.)
  • Non-smoker

Desirable requirements:

  • Completion of a supervisory training course
  • Recognized qualification in Management, Leadership or Project Management
  • Recognized H&S qualification (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH)
  • Clean Room experience
  • SAP Experience
  • Recognized qualification in manufacturing (NVQ, Time served Apprenticeship or similar)
  • Some knowledge & experience of Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g. TPM, Six Sigma)
  • Experience with Laser products / Laser safety
