Our client are a rapidly growing business in a very secure industry. They are a family-owned ambient food manufacturer of high quality chutneys, condiments, dressings, and cooking sauces. They are currently based in a semi-rural area where there is no suitable public transport, however they do anticpate a move in the first half of 2023 to a more central location in Newbury.

Our client has a strong team environment where everyone helps and supports each other. There is a lot to learn and they provide training. Many of the team are multi-skilled. The most important things to us are a can do attitude, keen to learn and be trained. It’s all about being a team player who cares about the products they are making and the people they are working with. As we are a food factory, hygiene is very important and we practice ’clean as you go’. There is a lot of cleaning and everybody cleans.

There are 2 opportunities available:

Food Production Operative Late Shift

The hours are 37.5 hours per week, 15:30-24:00 Monday to Friday. We will need to train new starters during the day shift, 12:00-20:30 in advance of commencing the late shift.

The salary is from £13.77 per hour (we pay monthly). For previous relevant industry experience and skills, there would be a higher starting pay. Upon successful completion of training, the salary will increase. Overtime is often available.

The main activities in production are setting up and running filling lines, cleaning them at the end of the day before setting up for the next day. Our filling lines are a mixture of manual, semi-automatic and automatic filling and capping lines. We have to keep detailed records of each batch we produce. Some of the filling machines require skilled setting up and it can take several months for someone to master it; you will be learning all of the time.

Production Cook Late Shift

The hours are 37.5 hours per week, 14:00-22:30 Monday to Friday. We will need to train new starters during the day shift, 09:00-17:00 in advance of commencing the late shift.

The salary is from £14.10 per hour (we pay monthly). For people with previous experience as a manufacturing cook in a factory environment, there would be a higher starting salary. Overtime is often available.

Fast food or home cooking experience is insufficient for this role. It is not the same as restaurant cooking, but catering cooking is the closest job to it. All cooks are on their feet all day; just like working in a kitchen, restaurant or bar (but the actual work is quite different), and it’s fast-paced.

In both roles there are two 15 minute tea breaks and a 30 minute lunch break which are unpaid.

Benefits:
  • Company pension
  • On-site parking

Interviews are on-site during production. Our client asks candidates to come to the site to see the work environment and meet some of the team.

If either of these roles sound of interest to you, please apply immediately to be considered.
