The team

Coronation Street has an exciting opportunity for a Production Buyer to join the team to facilitate the day-to-day buying requirements of the Design Department.

The role

• To be able source a wide range of props and dressings to fulfil the requirements of the show.
• To work from online prop lists and be able to update and communicate purchases to the team.
• Working with the Production Designer to source specific set dressings to suit a range of characters and set designs.
• The ability to work from character descriptions and moodboards to buy props that accurately describe the characters in the show.
• Liaise and arrange prop placements.
• Work within budget and liaise with the Production Accountant & Art Directors on a regular basis.
• Clear expenses through iBusiness on a timely basis.
• Raise Purchase Orders where possible in advance of receiving goods.
• Undertake all related paperwork via iBusiness.
• Liaise with internal departments and external organisations/suppliers.
• Working as part of a Props team allocated to specific blocks of filming.
• Attend design meetings with directors and to offer creative input and solutions into these meetings.
• Supports the Construction Department in buying materials and bespoke one off purchases.
• Confidentiality is essential.
• Excellent understanding of IT for sourcing unusual props via the internet.

• An understanding of ‘on screen’ legal obligations.
• Ability to work under instruction.
• Demonstrate self motivation and a proactive approach.
• Monitor and, where possible, control of food ordering to avoid unnecessary waste.
• To support and develop and identify more sustainable working practices and approaches to buying.

Skills you’ll need(minimum criteria)

• Substantial amount of driving required for the role. You will be expected to pick up and drop off props from multiple locations organised and sourced by yourself. Sometimes there may be a short turnaround on prop requests so driving is essential in order to collect props efficiently and in time for filming. Therefore a full Driving License required.
• Flexible approach to working hours.
• Ability to work within budget and an understanding of the production financial process essential.
• Minimum of 12 months cumulative experience working in a Production Buyer role in television drama.
• Good local knowledge for prop sourcing.
• Strong IT skills- google drive, internet searching etc.
