Working with a broad range of stakeholders to align technology developments with business outcomes. While focusing on a specific business area or customer journey, the role provides an opportunity to really understand your specific end-users and their needs across the customer lifecycle. Working alongside both the in-house development team and third-party suppliers, this role will provide much needed structure and knowledge to encourage greater agility and value delivery.

Reports to:Head of Software Product

Responsibilities Of The Role

  • Understand business context and align delivery to maximise value
  • Develop deep customer and commercial product knowledge by working closely with a specific business area
  • Develop and manage the technical roadmap to support the execution of business strategy
  • Manage feedback and own the product backlog, while leading on requirement gathering and prioritisation
  • Work with 3rd party suppliers to successfully implement solutions and identify opportunities for future development
  • Engage end users (both internal and external) in research, experiments, testing and training
  • Support stakeholders in the creation of business cases that reflect opportunities for improvement and outline key deliverables from technology
  • Capture and analyse data to support decision making and identify opportunities
  • Collaboratively work with and engage the core team (BAs, SAs, Developers and QA) and stakeholders across the business (sales, marketing, customer care, compliance, commercial, Learning and Development, etc) to deliver meaningful outcomes
  • Openly communicate with all teams and stakeholders

Success Measures

  • In-depth knowledge of a specific business area or customer journey, with a real understanding of the specific end-users and their needs across the customer lifecycle
  • Product Management, as a discipline, successfully embedded and respected for the value it adds across the business

What you need to have already done to be right for this role

  • Minimum three years’ professional experience in a product management role OR experience in technical delivery such as one of the following roles; business analyst, UX, development or project management.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining product backlogs and roadmaps
  • Experience of working with development squads
  • Desirable to have experience of working with lo-code platforms

Skills

  • Drive to succeed and evangelise Product Management as a discipline
  • Ability to anticipate risks and issues and to respond to unforeseen changes, proven ability to see problems from different angles.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal, with impeccable attention to detail
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • A desire to challenge the norm and be comfortable with saying ‘no’
  • Strong time and workload management skills
  • Personable, persuasive, innovative and be comfortable dealing with people at all levels
  • A “can do”, high energy attitude
  • Logically thinking to overcome challenges and see changes through from start to completion

Qualifications And Other Requirements

  • Industry Experience: Information Technology, Utilities and/or Service provision, preferred.
  • Location: within commuting distance of Verastar HQ, Sale, Manchester.
