About the Role:

This is an exciting client -facing opportunity for a Product Engineer (with a Java development/DevOps engineering background) to provide subject matter expertise on a real-time (faster) payments solution for major financial services providers globally.

Main responsibilities:

• Client-facing devops/software product engineer to provide real-time (faster) payments solution application subject matter expertise (SME)
• Act as SME as part of client product implementation projects
• Provide business and technical expertise within cross functional teams to shape product development
• Client facing channel to collate feedback to drive continual product/process improvements
• Establish deep trusted client relationships to understand how the product is used from an end user perspective and prioritise their requirements/issues
• Conduit for client application queries and product change requests
• Establish, maintain, and develop relationships with key internal/external stakeholders
• SME triage point for incidents across differing multiple client infrastructures (server & cloud architectures)
• End-to-end ownership of technical product issues, including troubleshooting, identification of root cause, and issue resolution and communication
• Responsible for packaging, verification testing and release management of the product application using CI/CD automation
• Identify and contribute to product and process optimisation
• Create, maintain, and enhance relevant product documentation, both internal and client facing
• Providing training/coaching for client resources.
• SME as part of on-call/shift rota
• Proactively manage self-learning path to increase business, technical and industry knowledge
• Mentor/coach less experienced team members

Skills/Experience:

• Logical thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experienced with DevOps tools and processes, specifically Linux, Jenkins, Maven and Git
• Must be able to work individually or within a team to ensure that defined SLA’s are met
• Positive and ‘can do’ attitude with continuous improvement mindset
• Excellent communicator, active listener, and natural collaborator
• Ability to stay focused whilst under pressure in constantly evolving situations
• Strong customer service ethos
• Solid Java development skills
• Experience of complex applications within high availability/high volume environments
• Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
• In-depth understanding of management and maintenance of enterprise software codebase
• Flexibility, creativity, persistence, and ability to quickly learn new concepts to resolve a wide variety of urgent issues
• Ability to transpose and convey, complex technical concepts/issues with simplicity and clarity to technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable Skills/ Experience:

• DevOps engineer experience - MongoDB, Kubernetes, Docker and AWS
• Solid understanding of cloud-hosted architectures
• Solid Java development
• Knowledge of BDD & TDD techniques
• Experience/understanding of automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with real-time messaging systems
• Experience with message driven systems (e.g. IBM MQ Clustering)
• Experience within Payments processing systems or Finance/Banking industry
• JIRA / Confluence experience
