Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced professional and capable leader to join our development team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for developing key components of our innovative insect rearing technology for integration into our exciting new production facilities in Brazil and UK.

Focussed on mass rearing of our agricultural products, you will be responsible for the development of large-scale rearing solutions, thoughtfully engineering around biological constraints to allow high throughput, low-cost insect production. Working in conjunction with the engineering and production teams you will ensure the smooth introduction and optimisation of new equipment and novel insect production processes for our key agricultural production and release programs. This position involves taking our current concepts from prototype to commercial solution and will require both scientific and engineering insight.

Experience working at the interface of biology and engineering is key and we anticipate individuals with backgrounds in food production technology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, innovative farming systems or related consultancy fields to be relevant. The successful candidate will likely have a scientific background with a very applied approach to converting ideas into real world solutions and will be directly involved in ensuring that innovative solutions to insect rearing move smoothly through product development phases.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role include:
  • Developing a strong, cross-functional team ethos, making the most of your direct team and building strong interfaces with other technical functions;
  • Improving our existing processes and equipment solutions and be spearheading the development of new ones in line with the business expectations;
  • Test, evaluate and report on processes and equipment progress;
  • Working with external providers to ensure rapid and smooth information transfer to deliver timely next steps;
  • Managing projects in line with critical path for both internal and customer related deliverables;
  • Gathering the necessary technical and/or production information from trials;
  • Ensuring end products match the customer requirements & expectations;
  • Clear and timely reporting for a senior audience on progress and timelines for delivery in both written and PowerPoint presentation formats.

Key Qualifications And Experience
  • Significant experience in any product or process development field, with relevant fields likely to be food, pharma and farming;
  • A strong interest in the biological sciences;
  • Experience bringing automation into biological systems;
  • Experience within production type environments would be beneficial;
  • Must be diligent and organised, with data recording abilities;
  • Have an attention to detail;
  • Able to work independently and within a team;
  • Excellent written English and oral communication suitable for an executive audience;
  • Native user of the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to travel internationally required,(global circumstances permitting).
