As a Process Operator you are responsible for conducting production activities at North Tees Ammonia Storage Facility, ensuring efficient handling, storage and distribution of product within specified quality parameters in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
This position is a fixed term contract until March 2023 and we are looking for an immediate start if possible.

In this role you will be accountable for...
  • Compliance with all statutory and company systems, standards and procedures to ensure the safe and environmentally acceptable operation of the North Tees Ammonia Storage Area.
  • Having a thorough understanding of and full compliance with the site quality systems and procedures to maintain the quality standards of the area products.
  • Compiling electronic shift logs, data collection and associated production log sheets and production records of all work undertaken and ensure complete and thorough handover of this information at the end of the shift to ensure consistent and efficient operation of the Area.
  • Once trained and deemed competent, application of LOTO isolations, issuing and control of permits for work associated with North Tees Ammonia Storage Facility
  • Carrying out cleaning and general housekeeping tasks, both proactively and at the instruction of line management, across all areas of the Area to ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained at all times.
  • Ensuring plant hardware is operated to meet Sales and Operation Plans, business requirements and current plant operational policies.
  • Diagnosing faults and carry out basic maintenance work on plant machinery (where this is within their competence and for which they have been trained, assessed and validated) to ensure maximum availability for plant equipment. Where faults/issues are beyond the capability/training, they should be raised via EAM system.
  • Provide operational support for business improvement activities to ensure the practical and workable delivery of the activity. E.g.: Systems/procedures updating, projects, turnarounds etc.


North Tees Ammonia Storage is required to run steadily with high reliability due the interactions other plants and customers on the Billingham Site and across Teesside. North Tees Site is separated from the main Billingham complex and due to this the North Tees Process Operator is required to work in an autonomous manner with minimal direct supervision for periods of time.

North Tees Ammonia Storage Facility is covered by COMAH and PPC legislation, the maintenance of high production and engineering standards is essential to meet stringent safety and environmental requirements for storing ammonia.

The Skills, Qualifications And Experience You Will Have...
  • Previous chemical process plant experience and preferably have attained education standard, C&G Process Operations/Process Technology Level III or equivalent
  • Practical knowledge of computerised operating systems including Delta V (DCS), Oracle and Microsoft Office Suite would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Proficient with IT systems
  • Behave as a proactive team member focused on the delivery business objectives
  • Work under own initiative and demonstrate a calmness under pressure
  • At least 5 years Chemical industry experience is required
  • The Site activities are covered by COMAH and IPPC legislation and the maintenance of high production and engineering standards are essential
