About the role:

An exciting opportunity to join our R&D team at Wilton where we carry out research on various projects related to the production of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer.

As a Process Modelling Technologist, you will use your numerical and analytical skills to implement and support chemical process modelling within MCM’s Alpha MMA manufacturing technology. You will work within the R&D team based at the Wilton Centre, interacting with Scientists and Engineers to apply process models and data analysis to real world chemical process data. You will have ownership for delivering on the process models you develop and have the opportunity to work on intellectually challenging problems in a collaborative environment.

Your responsibilities:

  • The development and upkeep of chemical process models (reaction kinetic, thermodynamic and catalyst deactivation models) to support the Alpha technology platform.
  • The identification and implementation of process analytical, data science and modelling technologies (data visualisation, data modelling, chemometrics, machine learning, online process stream analysis, etc.) to the Alpha technology platform.
  • Lab automation activities within our laboratory and pilot plant facilities.

Your Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree or PhD in a physical science (chemistry, physics, mathematics etc.) or chemical/process engineering.
  • Previous knowledge of model building and the fitting of models to experimental data is desirable.
  • Proficient in the use of python programming language (or other such as MATLAB) for scientific computations and data management/analysis.
  • Have a strong numerical background and are passionate about applying science and modelling techniques to real-world problems.
