A Local Authority based in North Kent is looking for a Principle Engineer - Capital Projects to join their Highways team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have a full relevant Degree qualification, extensive experience running NEC3 & NEC4 contracts, have experience with Civil Engineering/Highways Design and ideally experience in a similar local authority or housing role.

The main purpose of the role is to manage the Capital Projects Team, consisting of Senior Engineers and a small support team, in delivering small and large design projects across the network. This includes the current LED scheme and the Street Lighting Operations Team.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

Minimum HNC in Civil Engineer (Degree would be preferable)

NEC3 and NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation

Experience of running NEC3 & NEC4 projects

Civil Engineering design experience (Highway design)

Experience managing a team (If they have qualifications i.e. ILM great, but previous experience would be the main thing)

CDM experience

Street lighting experience

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Principal Engineer for co-ordination and delivery of all Capital Projects work streams with specific Lead Engineer responsibility for Highway Capital Projects Policy, Programme delivery & Performance Management.

Lead Engineer for embedding highway capital projects compliance within the Highway management Team to meet Department for Transport funding criteria, codes of practice and prevailing best practice.

Management of the Highway Capital Projects Team and appointed consultants to deliver highway capital projects work streams.

Development & quarterly monitoring of the Highway Annual Service Plan.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering a negotiable daily rate of £250 - £350 p/day Umbrella Ltd (Approx. £800 - £1,050 p/week NET after deductions).
