Role Profile

This is a unique role that allows you to come on board and upskill within this emerging technology within the utilities sector and may suit candidates with sound Telecoms backgrounds or alike.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Adopt the role of Lead Design Authority (LDA) to ensure the delivery of the end to end customer solution

• Engage with key stakeholders to define customer requirements and ensure solutions are designed and planned to meet or exceed expectations

• Drive the design and build activity, engaging with internal and external contributors to ensure the solution meets customer requirements

• Analyse engineering problems related to equipment and systems or the causes of component failures and develop solutions to provide full resolution.

• Provide detailed, documented technical solutions and reports for distribution both internally and externally

• Identify risks within the design and build through the design review process and take action to ensure appropriate mitigation/management

• Develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide technical guidance to external and internal stakeholders

• Translate customer concept designs into detailed design, build and test specifications that meet customers’ requirements, within the constraints of the total costs of ownership and operability

• Drive innovation, both small and large, into and through the business; deploy and evidence with outcomes, a continuous improvement (CI) mind-set

• Bring a commercial perspective to the operation, with a particular focus on cash management, cash preservation and optimising returns on investments made in assets and tools

Must Haves

  • Strong knowledge of technologies involved in Utility data collection, processing and management.
  • (Radio Access Networks (Sensus), Software, OSS (Comarch), Comms Hubs (EDMI), GBCS, Middleware, Cloud).
  • Extensive experience working with suppliers – both developing new services/capabilities and driving 3rd parties to resolve and fix functionality issues and errors.

Might Haves

  • Either (Bachelors in Engineering / HND or equivalent in Engineering) or relevant experience
  • AWS Cloud exposure
  • Track record of setting the standards for the design, development testing of bespoke and COTS (Common off the Shelf) software/hardware for Smart Metering, Telecoms, Broadcast, IP Network, IOT or corporate application based on expertise.
  • Experience in setting the standards for processes and engineering practices related to area of expertise for platforms that support services.
