Job Description

Principal Systems Engineer (background in Mechanical, Process or Electrical)

Are you a Senior or Principal Engineer with 5 or 8+ Years’ experience in complex regulated industry (i.e. Nuclear, Aerospace, Energy...)

Experienced in power station design or operating site

with knowledge of Vee Lifecycle model and Verification and Validation.

Responsibilities:  
  • Line management of team of System Engineers, 8-10 direct reports.
  • Requirement specification production / management.
  • Lead user need and requirement elicitation.
  • Administrator and management of requirements database software (DOORS preferential)
  • Contribute and define working practice and conventions in relation to requirements management, system modelling, interface management, data management and cross cutting project integration.
  • Interface Management.
  • System Architecture definition.
  • Modelling - Functional Modelling (e.g FFBD), Architecture Diagrams and Interface Analysis/ Diagrams (e.g. N2 matrix). Capella Preferred.
  • Understand and mentor others in good design techniques, analysis and domain understanding,
  • Working with mechanical, electrical and process systems, interfacing with Civil and structural teams – acting as central conduit for integration.
  • Stakeholder management and engagement skills are required to enable cross discipline success
  • Strong communicator with an ability to present to all levels including presenting initiatives to company management and leading technical presentations in design reviews

Profile

Your Profile:
  • Degree in engineering or STEM subject is mandatory or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience,
  • Systems thinking and systems engineering processes is mandatory.
  • Systems engineering training/qualifications desirable.
  • Experience as administrator and operating Rationale DOORS software as a practitioner.
  • Extensive experience producing complex requirement databases with requisite traceability.
  • Ability to define and trade relative merits of system architecture alternatives.
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering methods.
  • Knowledge of full system lifecycle phases (Vee lifecycle model)
  • Supporting formal Verification and Validation and integration process.
  • Awareness of relevant SE standards desirable e.g. BS EN 15288, and INCOSE/IfSE SE Handbook.
  • Chartered engineer/ CSEP
