Job Description

Job Title: Project Planner/Cost Controller

Location: Sunderland

Employment Type: Permanent

Assystem E&I are currently seeking the services of a Project Planner/Cost Controller to support its growing energy and nuclear business at our offices in Sunderland.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the successful applicant will assist with overall project delivery, including cost and planning controls for work packages and administration.

The Role:
  • Coordination of work packages to schedule, budget – setting and monitoring budgets and preparing forecasts, tracking progress vs schedule, resource planning, coordination of sub-contractors.
  • Interface with the Engineering Team Leads to identify and report: progress, scope changes, meeting actions, issues and risks.
  • Responsible for planning – production and management of overall schedule, both internally and externally.
  • Cost reporting to the Senior Project Manager.
  • Production of progress reports, both internally and externally.
  • Support to the SPM in the production and maintenance of Risk Register (internal and external)
  • Input to proposals relating to manhour estimates and planning.
  • Provide other process and admin support to governance, QA and the engineering team.

Profile

Your background:

Ideally, you’ll have an Engineering background and knowledge of development and manufacture projects. We are a nuclear engineering consultancy so any Nuclear Industry experience would be an advantage but is not essential

You will have a degree preferred, or other equivalent qualification and prefreably APM, Prince 2 or other project management qualifications.

You’ll have Primavera P6 to Intermediate level and strong MS Project experience. You will be using your skills in MS Office, especially Excel on a daily basis here so you’ll need to be confident with them.

You will be self-motivated and able to work to deadlines without direction/supervision; a good communicator with a “can do attitude” and have cost management and commercial acumen

You’ll be flexible in approach to work; have attention to detail and a high customer service orientation.
