Job Title:Principal Engineer - Combat Systems

Location: 1-2 days weekly in your nearest office either Southern or North West sites. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, please speak with your recruiter to confirm.

What you’ll be doing:

• Undertaking functional design, providing specialist advice and producing evidence in support of legislative, safety and technical requirements

• Understanding and interpreting the User Needs, Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Concept of Use (CONUSE) and be able to derive the technical and functional requirements

• Providing specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise to define systems architecture, components and interfaces. Understand and articulate the impact of the Susceptibility Management System design on other areas of the submarine combat system and platform

• Ensuring design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority

• Providing technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers

• Providing technical guidance to other combat system engineers and supporting the engineering management team in planning and controlling specialist activities

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Demonstrable Systems Engineering experience, including managing requirements and acceptance activities, systems design and integration, creation of technical documentation and change management experience

• Knowledge of the early engineering lifecycle with some experience of operating in those early phases – Requirements elicitation & Functional Design

Desirable:

• Combat Systems / Susceptibility Management System knowledge and experience (full training will be provided)

• Systems Architecting via Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo, UML, SysML, MoDAF, NAF, UAF)

The Combat Systemsteam:

As a part of the Combat Systems team, you will be providing cutting edge capability for a new generation of Royal Navy Submarines. This role will provide you with the ability to gain experience across the broader Combat System as well as the Susceptibility Management System. You will also have the opportunity to work on a high-profile engineering programme, enabling you to interact with several internal and external stakeholders including the Ministry of Defence.
