Job OverviewPrincipal Clinical Psychologist / Clinical Neuropsychologist (Band 8a)We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Neuropsychologist to work with the neurology department in Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.This is an ideal role for somebody interested in developing a service at an exciting time with the recent approval of a neurology business case.This is a band 8a position but could be configured as a band 7 preceptorship for a psychologist with less experience, so applications are encouraged.We would be supportive of applicants who are interested to pursue clinical neuropsychology training. You will have access to clinical supervision from an approved supervisor.The position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver specialist neuropsychological assessment and intervention to patients with neurological conditions, working closely with the wider neurology department. There are opportunities for both inpatient and outpatient work.In terms of professional links you will join a small, supportive team of psychologists in the business unit (4.4 WTE) with a shared interest in improving outcomes for patients with long-term conditions. The post-holder would be supported to develop a special interest in a particular patient group or intervention.We offer an agile working pattern with the opportunity to have a split of home / office working - please be aware you must also carry out some face-to-face clinical work in this role.Main duties of the jobThe post will suit a Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Neuropsychologist who enjoys direct clinical work (including neuropsychological assessments and interventions) as well as consultation, supervision, training, service development and research/audit. An ability to work with the wider system (e.g. non-statutory organisations, acute hospitals) is essential.Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is recognised as an innovative integrated mental health, community health and social care organization, and is located in a beautiful part of the West Country. We have well established Clinical Psychology and Psychological Therapies Services. There is expert supervision available in the wider Trust in CBT, CAT, systemic and other psychological therapies.
