Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Principle Clinical Psychologist to work on the development of paediatric psychology services and work closely with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, paediatricians and nurses. This post will build on the success that the team has had developing services alongside a clinical role.

This post will have a responsibility for exploring ways to develop the team further in Somerset. The post holder will also hold a clinical caseload, leading on some the most complex cases, and providing supervision to Senior Clinical Psychologists.

The successful candidate will have detailed knowledge of, and experience in working with a paediatric population. They will have experience of service development; including developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. A Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent accepted by BPS as qualification for work as Clinical Psychologist and Registration with HCPC is essential.

The post holder will receive clinical supervision from the lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Paediatric Psychology, and clinically supervise other Clinical Psychologists. The Trust has excellent working relationships with Exeter University doctoral training programme and there will be opportunities for supervising Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

We have strong links with regional specialist centres and national networks, and strive to develop and continually improve our services in line with national recommendations and patient feedback. We offer embedded psychological services within multidisciplinary physical health teams and provide supervision, consultation and training for our non-psychologist colleagues. We aim to promote psychological thinking across all levels of wider paediatric services, whilst providing direct therapeutic services to children, young people and families. We are enthusiastic about innovative, flexible and creative approaches to therapy and increasing access to evidence-based psychological support.
