We are seeking to appoint a full time Precision Mechanical Engineer within the Department of Physics, which is one of the major centres for Physics teaching and research in the University of London.

The main duties involve supporting the research of the department. You will machine, construct and develop a range of specialised equipment to support research projects in close collaboration with academics, research assistants and postgraduate students. A high degree of accuracy using the full range of workshop machines, skills and techniques is essential.

You will have excellent high precision mechanical workshop skills and be able to develop good team working relationships with the research groups. Good organisation skills, initiative and enthusiasm are important in this role.

We have a HURCO CNC milling machine and a Emco CNC Lathe within the workshop, as well as manual mills and lathes, we have a new HURCO 5 axis milling machine and Colchester Master Lathe coming to the workshop soon. A willingness to operate the CNC machines is important, full training will be given.

This is a full-time permanent post, available end of March. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the collage is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor great Park and within commuting distance from London.
