Every intricate stitch beautifully expressed line, and the stirring noise of our engines is a manifestation of the desire and collective spirit to create the most beautiful cars: the soul of Aston Martin made real.Job PurposeWith the ever-changing Market, Customer and Legislative landscape, this role will focus on understanding of the Macro and Micro challenges to AML PT department and the definition of plans & solutions to meet these requirements.Key Duties & Responsibilities- Lead Powertrain medium-long term planning activity to ensure robust solutions are in place to meet all market, customer and legislative demands on AML vehicles relating to PT
- Drive preliminary budget and timing plans to enable realisation of plans
- Work closely with AML Product Planning department to align aspirations of vehicle and powertrain
- Interpret and understand all Powertrain impacting legislation across global markets, including:
- Emissions
- OBD
- AECD/AES/BES
- CO2 & Consumption (including fleet requirements)
- Noise
- Coastdown
- Performance
- Functional Safety
- Cyber Security
- Understand competitive positioning requirements of AML vehicles and definition of solutions to achieve required performance and driveability attributes
- Support technology strategy definition to enable compliance to requirements in all markets
- Educate wider Powertrain organisation about content and timing requirements
- Liaise with market specific legislative bodies to confirm interpretation and acceptance of technical solutions
- Support vehicle Legislation and Certification team in test prep and completion
- Interaction with PT simulation team to ensure ongoing capability requirements are understood
- Demonstrable previous experience of lifecycle planning within the powertrain discipline
- Demonstrable previous experience of understanding global legislative requirements relating to Powertrain
- Experience of working directly with governmental legislative bodies (eg, ARB, TUV, VCA, etc)
- Experience of undertaking certification work at both powertrain and vehicle level
- Experience of working with Automotive industry unions/societies (ACEA etc)
- Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels
- Ability to take large amounts of information/data and clarify down to a clear and simple message
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results in autonomy
- Strong sense of ownership and responsibility with an ability to see bigger picture
- Highly organized person who is process driven and can work autonomously
- Able to arbitrate conflicts and facilitate the decision making
- Ability to bring people together and generate aligned solutions
