Portfolio Planning Manager

As a Barclays Portfolio Planning Manager, you will manage a team of approximately two Portfolio Managers in Secured Borrowing. In your new role you will be accountable defining, agreeing, and monitoring the Secured Borrowing Portfolio Roadmap/ Strategic Delivery Plan, ensuring resources and financials are aligned appropriately.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

  • Safeguarding the delivery of strategic outcomes set by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and/ or Executive Committee (ExCo) member
  • Approving the investment criteria used to prioritise funding allocation to initiatives and tracking initiative outcomes and benefits
  • Managing portfolio resources effectively, challenging where appropriate and actively supporting the resolution of variances as necessary
  • Managing the Portfolio Roadmap of change in conjunction with Business stakeholders
  • Ensuring that change is delivered in line with the relevant policies and standards, driving consistent, robust controls data, monitoring indicators
  • Engaging and influencing executive stakeholders (such as Accountable Executives), helping them to understand their responsibilities
  • Sourcing of best practice guidance and expertise for delivery leads, leading by example, and supporting modern ways of working

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive and high profile Portfolio/ Programme management experience, ability to provide portfolio PMO services to CIOs and senior stakeholders
  • Solid Portfolio mobilisation/ initiation/ planning experience in addition to management of established Portfolios
  • Exceptional leadership skills with evidence of managing teams across a range of disciplines and locations
  • Demonstrable record of managing multi million pound Portfolio budgets effectively, and delivering within budgetary constraints

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • A track record of successfully managing of Chief Information Officer/ senior stakeholder relationships
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Formal external qualification/ accreditation to Agile, Prince II or PMI methodologies
  • Experience of implementing Agile ways of working (establishing Feature Teams, backlogs, capacity)

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play.
