Business overview per Business Area:
On Demand is the home of the platform that powers the ITV Hub and Britbox UK. Last year the Hub served over 1.8 billion videos to 28 million users across 29 platforms including Amazon Fire, Xbox, Android, and iOS devices to name but a few. We’re constantly expanding with year-on-year video delivery increasing just as consumers’ appetite for on demand content. Britbox was launched in December 2019 and is ITV’s joint venture with the BBC and other content partners, that aims to deliver a best in class subscription video service for great British content - all powered by technology battle-tested on the Hub. We are creating Britbox exclusives & the demand on technology is growing.

This role entails…

We are looking for Platform Engineers to help expand the home of our key systems - the Common Platform. You might be running the ITV Hub, Britbox or the system that pays Ant & Dec, but wherever you are, you’ll be working with great people using the latest technology. We believe that you build it, you run it”; so we organise around teams that have full control and responsibility for their systems end-to-end. One day you might be helping deploy a new microservice into AWS, the next watching it handle millions of requests during the Love Island final. You will be challenged in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, but you’ll be given the autonomy, mastery and purpose to succeed. We value smart work as much as hard work, so you’ll be encouraged to automate wherever possible.

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Minimum role criteria:
Be smart. We know the technology we use today won’t be the technology we use tomorrow so we’ve got to be smart enough to keep pace.

Be kind. We believe the best route to success is through sharing and collaboration, so we’ve all got to get along.

Possess a great working knowledge of linux (ideally Centos)

Have extensive knowledge of config management, deployment, automation, orchestration, and monitoring tools (e.g jenkins, terraform)

Have experience working with cloud infrastructure platforms (ideally AWS, Kubernetes)

Be passionate working within an agile, multidisciplinary ‘devops’ team

Be a clear communicator that documents well and is happy having their work critiqued

Bonus points for:
Being able to script

Having experience designing, building and operating highly available, highly scalable systems

Knowing about programming, networking, security, databases and/or storage
